With this being the debut year for Newcastle University into Formula Student Class 1a low carbon category , it was a venture into the unknown for the team. The car based on a aluminium plate, bolsa wood core monocoque chassis carrying AC synchronous electric motor to give peak power output of 100bhp. High capacity lithium-ion battery modules to give full vehicle performance for up to an hour of exhilarating racing. Strong, lightweight and environmentally friendly aluminium and balsa wood sandwich panel chassis.
